New FeltSewGood Plush Animals

New in the shop!

I've designed a new batch of plush animals. They are all made from an assortment of repurposed wool and cashmere from both sweaters and woven wool. And of course the cashmere bunnies are super soft. There's also a bear and a kitty.
Perfect for small hands and cuddling, they would also be sweet nursery décor. Now available for adoption!

It seems I'm usually making and crafting for my Etsy shop, and sometimes gifts for others, but I don't very often make or sew for myself. But I made two plush koi fish just for me.

As I enjoy watching our koi and goldfish in our backyard pond, I can't help but admire the colorful spots and patterns. So I tried to duplicate the look by needle felting sweater wool to make soft plush koi pillows. I started with the orange koi with black spots and then made the "calico" koi, white with bright orange and black spots.
They now reside on the back of the family room sofa.

Crafting Inspiration from the Garden

 

 

 

 

 

 

My prickly pear cactus is blooming in the garden, which got me thinking that I haven't made any of my plush cactus soft sculptures for a while. So I dug out some green felted sweater wool and set to work. I need to hunt for a few more small pots for my soft, wooly cactus garden and then I hope to have some of them listed in the shop by the first of next week. I'll let you know!

Felted Wool Plush Toys

I've been working on some new plush toys for my Etsy shop, FeltSewGood. I made this pair of Orcas, Mama and baby, some more horses and I'm working on a new cat design.

And, here's my latest plush toy listing, a new dinosaur, the Stegosaurus!

The Stegosaurus was made from deep dusty blue and sage green felted, recycled wool sweaters. And all my new animals are stuffed with eco-friendly "Ingeo" fibers made from the renewable resource corn.

My First Post to The Needle

I have finally published my first post to theneedle.org. For several months I've been enjoying reading about and admiring the work of all the plush artists who are members of The Needle and I decided to join them. "The Needle is a collaborative website where creators of quality plush can share their work. We straddle that line between art and craft, leaping back and forth willy nilly as it suits us."

Virtually Carefree Cactus

There will be no stickers in your fingers from these cactus!

They are actually soft and fuzzy to the touch.

And they need no sunlight or water!

These cactus are made from felted recycled wool sweaters.
They each have a small felted flower and are softly stuffed with polyfil.

They make a wonderful, whimsical decorator item or use them as a pincushion!
