Just for Fun

It seems I'm usually making and crafting for my Etsy shop, and sometimes gifts for others, but I don't very often make or sew for myself. But I made two plush koi fish just for me.
As I enjoy watching our koi and goldfish in our backyard pond, I can't help but admire the colorful spots and patterns. So I tried to duplicate the look by needle felting sweater wool to make soft plush koi pillows. I started with the orange koi with black spots and then made the "calico" koi, white with bright orange and black spots.
They now reside on the back of the family room sofa.

Harvest Inspired Etsy Finds

It's Harvest Time. Fall officially begins this week. The leaves are starting to change colors, it's time for pumpkins and squashes and a trip to the apple orchard. Here are a few of my new Etsy favorites found using the search word "Harvest".

What I Am Crafting Today

After a large sale last week in my shop, I need to restock my inventory. I've been stocking up on craft supplies, especially wool sweaters and wool fabric. I decided to start with some flower brooches . . .

I set up my little assembly line. . .

I had previously made some wet felted balls for the center of the flowers.

Next comes the cutting and trimming, needle felting a little bit of wool roving to the fulled wool, then gathering and stitching. Looks like I'll be working on these for a few days.

While I'm making flowers, I'll keep working on my ideas to combine some suede and wool fabrics that I've found, into my designs for handbags. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
