At first try, I needle felted the center balls for my felted poppy brooches. This time I used the wet felting technique. I coiled up wisps of wool roving into a loose ball. Then I just dampened the wool. Next I made my hands soapy and rolled the ball lightly between my palms. As the ball started to harden, I could apply more pressure. Once it all comes together, I rinsed in cool water to rinse out the soap. I need a little more practice, but this method works very well.

I've been getting reading for the first holiday shoppers in my Etsy shop, Felt Sew Good. I'm not an early shopper myself, but some of you may want to get a head start. These are the latest version of my "Heart Felt" embroidered hearts. I love these little hearts, and they are fun to make. These cute puffed heart ornaments were made from felted recycled wool sweaters. They are embroidered in traditional Christmas colors of red, gold, dark green, light green and cream and each is accented with a tiny vintage button. They are blanket stitched around the edge and "puffed" with a little stuffing. Each heart has a tiny red satin ribbon loop for hanging. The back of each ornament is unadorned. They would be lovely hanging on your Christmas tree, or spreading holiday cheer anywhere in your home. Or use one as a sweet accent tied to that very special holiday gift!

Go a step further and reduce and reuse paper waste by using a filterless coffee maker with a french press. Trade out your individual bottle water for a reusable water bottle. Wash, refill and drink up.
BARE FACTS & STATS: If every coffee-drinking American used a refillable mug instead of a disposable cup, it would spare our environment close to 7 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions every day. The annual amount of oil expected to produce plastic bottles sold in the United States is enough to fuel 100,000 cars for an entire year.
