Shop Update Soon!

Occasionally I receive a request for a longer or shorter strap on one of my FeltSewGood handbags or purses. Since I use mostly repurposed materials for my creations, I often have a limited amount of fabric, or sweater wool, to use for each purse and that can ultimately limit the length of the purse straps.
But when I have the extra fabric needed, I decided I will make my "Bella" style purses with an adjustable shoulder strap.
I found these metal buckle pieces at my local fabric store.

I had plenty of this herringbone wool to make an extra long strip of fabric to use for the shoulder strap. This Bella will be able to be carried over the shoulder, or worn across your body by adjusting the new longer strap.

I'm working on several new items, including this Bella, and I'll have a shop update Saturday, April 20 and again on Monday, April 22.
Have a great weekend!

Computer Woes

Wow. It's been a very frustrating few weeks without a properly working computer. As any of you know that have had a computer crash, loss of power, etc., you forget how much you rely on your electronics! The most frustrating part was that it took so long to diagnose the problem. We did need a new updated line for our phone and internet service. . . the old line was damaged. But it took several service calls from our provider to figure that out. AND, we had a glitch in the operating system of our computer.
The good news is we were able to back up most of our important files and photos and we now have a brand new computer with more storage and power. Yeah! It will still take a while to get all our favorite files, photos, settings and software reinstalled, but at least we're back in business.

New Backyard Koi Pond

Finally! The snow has melted and my husband was finally able to get started on his long awaited Spring project. . . a new backyard koi pond. Hopefully the weather will start to be a little more cooperative and he can make steady progress on this big project.
The plan is for a 14 feet by 14 feet koi pond with a liner. He will be building his own filter system for the water, about 3000 gallons!
I'll share photos of our progress.

Waiting for Spring!

We've passed the first day of Spring and we've still had snow on the ground. Kind of unusual for us here in Indiana. This time last year we were already experiencing days of 80 degrees. And, it's putting a hold on my husband's ambitious plans for a new backyard koi pond.

He spent his free time over the winter planning and researching for his next big project. He has already ordered the pond liner and protective underlament. And the new pump for the filter system.

We put in a koi pond and water garden last Spring and truly enjoyed it. You can see the finished results here and here.

We have a space in our backyard where we have had a very large vegetable garden. We decided to give up some of that space for his wish of a bigger koi pond. The plan is for a 14 feet by 14 feet pond that will hold approximately 3000 gallons of water. We have lots of work to do. . .  digging a very large hole, collecting rocks for the edges and building a new filter system.
But for now we're just waiting for Spring!

Wholesale Flower Brooches

I decided to offer limited wholesale quantities of my flower brooches, available in my Etsy shop.
This grouping of 10 assorted brooches is the first batch, all in jewel tones.

I hope to soon have available another grouping, all in Spring colors.

I had these cards made, in postcard size, to be included with my wholesale orders. They have a cute button and thread illustration, since each of my flowers is hand cut and hand sewn, many with button centers. I ordered these from Vistaprint.

I just punched two holes in each card to allow the brooch to be "pinned" to the card.

The back of each card includes info about the recycled nature of all my FeltSewGood products. I also included my Etsy shop and blog web addresses.

I usually make tags for all my handbags and zip pouches from business cards with jute hangars. I thought these postcards were a nice way to show off the flowers.

Do you make your own tags or labels? Or do you purchase or custom order your labels?
